Anxiety Counseling for Women

Get to the root of your anxiety and learn the skills to begin thriving again.

Do you feel trapped in this cycle?

You live with an almost constant sense of stress, worry, or overwhelm…like it’s always lingering right under the surface. It might show up like a need to control everything (even things that cannot be controlled) or a racing heart every time you’re placed in a social situation. You don’t feel comfortable or confident in your own skin, and that spills into your relationship with your partner, your kids, and even your boss.

Sure, you could keep living this way…but you don’t want to anymore. You’re ready to get to the root of this and begin thinking, feeling, and responding differently.

WHAT WE CAN WORK ON

Anxiety counseling can help you break unhelpful patterns and build new skills to manage whatever life throws your way.

Anxiety counseling treats more than just symptoms.

It helps you identify and address the underlying causes. So you don’t just feel better—you are better.

How we’ll work together

You may have been to therapy to address your anxiety before, but didn’t experience the relief you were seeking. I know how frustrating that can be and I commend you for considering getting support again.

I take a very active approach to anxiety counseling. That means I’m going to do more than just let you talk (although there will be lots of that!)—I’m going to actually engage in conversation, brainstorming, and skill building with you.

Through hearing your story, I’ll begin to build a picture of what your challenges are. We’ll start by addressing any immediate concerns you have, such as skills to cope with difficult emotions or life situations you’re navigating, as well as setting some larger goals for therapy.

As you begin to manage your day-to-day challenges, we’ll be able to spend time exploring what’s caused this anxiety and addressing it at its core. Over the course of our sessions, you will start making progress towards the life you desire.

“Owning your story is the bravest thing you’ll ever do.”

Common Questions about Anxiety Counseling

Anxiety looks a little bit different for everyone—it’s not always just feeling worried. Here are some common symptoms:

  • – Nervousness, restlessness or being tense
  • – Feelings of danger, panic or dread
  • – Rapid breathing or hyperventilation
  • – Increased or heavy sweating
  • – Trembling or muscle twitching
  • – Weakness or lethargy
  • – Difficulty focusing or thinking clearly about anything other than the thing you’re worried about
  • – Insomnia
  • – Obsessions about certain ideas, a sign of obsessive-compulsive disorder
  • – Anxiety surrounding a particular life event or experience that has occurred in the past, a sign of post-traumatic stress disorder

You’re absolutely right—stress, overwhelm, and worry are all parts of the human experience (especially in this day and age!). When these things start to impact your day-to-day functioning or flow over into multiple areas of your life, however, it’s usually a sign that therapy might be helpful for you.

When it comes to treating anxiety symptoms, research shows that therapy is usually the most effective option. That’s because anxiety therapy – as opposed to anxiety medication – treats more than just symptoms to the problem.
