WOMEN’S THERAPIST SERVING NY, CT, FL

Hypnotherapist for Anxiety & More

Find relief through the power of your own mind.

Are you seeking a different approach to your anxiety, relationship issues, or other challenges?

You’ve tried traditional therapy. You’ve listened to podcasts, journaled, and tried things like meditation or mindfulness. And while those things have helped, you’re still struggling. You’re ready to try something new in order to create the change you’re looking for.

Hypnotherapy helps quickly and effectively address the way you think, feel, and act at the source.

Our mind is made up of two parts: your conscious and your subconscious. The conscious, of course, is what you’re currently aware of. It’s the subconscious, however—the part you are not aware of—that houses all of our thoughts, beliefs, automatic behaviors, and responses.

Traditional therapy addresses the conscious mind, helping you become more aware of your thoughts and actions. However, it can’t influence the subconscious where these things are actually stored. In hypnosis, we can bypass the conscious mind and influence the subconscious directly.

Hypnotherapy can help with:

HOW HYPNOTHERAPY WORKS

You’re in control every step of the way.

1. Plan

We’ll identify what you want to change, whether it’s the anxiety you feel, the way you respond to your kids, or something else. This will serve as our target for the hypnotherapy.

2. Relax

I’ll guide you into a state of relaxation, helping you relax each part of your body as well as your mind. You remain awake and in control at all times.

3. Suggest

Using our target as the guide, I will offer suggestions to your subconscious mind to help reprogram the beliefs or actions that you want to see change.

4. Exit

Then, I’ll guide you out of the relaxed hypnotic state. We’ll discuss what came up for you during the experience and how you can put your learnings into action.

Common Questions about Hypnotherapy

Anyone with reasonable intelligence can be hypnotized. The only ones who may not be able to be hypnotized are people who have difficulty understanding the words said, or people who have difficulty following instructions, like very young children or the severely mentally disabled.

No. Real-life hypnosis isn’t like the comedy or TV shows you may have seen before. The only thing that happens in hypnosis is that you’re made to feel completely relaxed in order to help the subconscious to be reached. You are fully awake and fully in control at all times.

During hypnosis you are in a state of what is called hypersensitivity. All of your senses are enhanced, your sight, hearing, taste, smell, emotions. It is closer to a state of day dreaming or relaxing. You will be focused on the words of the hypnotherapist and outside sounds will seem to fade away. Most times people stay awake, but sometimes people do fall asleep, and that is okay. Your subconscious mind hears everything.

Not unless you want to. It is not a truth serum!

No, it is no more dangerous than sitting on a sofa, scrolling through Instagram. The only side effect will be that you will be very relaxed afterwards. What people don’t realize is that they’re in a state of hypnosis on a daily basis and don’t even realize it!

Nothing happens without your consent. You have absolute control. It will feel as if you are just sitting there with your eyes closed, relaxing.

Sometimes yes, and sometimes no. Either way, your subconscious mind will remember.

No, you will not do anything that you do not think is acceptable or against your nature. You cannot be ‘made’ to violate your own values or accepted patterns of behavior. You would either reject the suggestion or come out of the hypnosis. You are in complete control at all times.

Traditionally, hypnosis has been used to treat behavior-related challenges such as smoking or weight loss. But the power of hypnotherapy is much more far-reaching: since it targets the subconscious mind, it’s effective in addressing virtually anything stored there, including limiting beliefs, automatic thoughts or reactions, and self-perception.

If you’re experiencing challenges in your daily life that haven’t improved through things like self-care of traditional therapy, it’s likely that hypnotherapy can help.

I offer hypnosis in both an individual and group format. Schedule a free 15-minute intro call with me to discuss how it works and answer any questions you may have about hypnotherapy and how it can help you. Click this link to contact me and we’ll find a time to connect.
