Adult Autism Diagnosis & Evaluation
With Gayle Weill, LCSW
As a therapist who has a brother with autism, this work is deeply meaningful to me.
Have you always felt a little different, but never known why? Maybe you’ve been told you’re too sensitive, too intense, or “not reading the room?”
I’ve been a psychotherapist for over 12 years and have personal and professional experience with autism. I will help you understand yourself, not as a problem to fix, but as a person to understand.
People Come To Me When They
Feel different from others
Are told they act “inappropriately”
Struggle with small talk
Feel anxious in groups
Have sensory sensitivities
Want answers
Suspect misdiagnosis
When you work hard to fit in, but social interactions still feel confusing, I get to the root cause.
How I Diagnose Adult Autism
An adult autism evaluation is about clarity, not labeling. It helps you understand how your brain works and what will help you feel more grounded, connected, and confident.
Over 2–to-5 sessions, we’ll meet online for one hour each. Together we’ll explore your:
Life history and family background
Social communication patterns
Sensory experiences
Strengths and challenges at work, home, or in relationships
I’ll ask questions to identify where you excel and where you struggle. If appropriate, I’ll provide a written evaluation with recommendations for next steps, such as therapy, workplace accommodations, or community supports.
Modalities I Use
“This process can bring powerful relief: you finally understand why things have felt the way they have, and what to do next.”
CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy)
Helps manage anxiety and rigid thinking patterns; builds flexible problem-solving skills.Psychodynamic Therapy
Explores how early experiences shaped self-understanding and relationships.Solution-Focused Therapy
Identifies strengths and creates concrete steps for daily success.
Self-understanding is a step toward peace
Our work together focuses on discovery, not judgment. You’ll leave with practical insights, self-awareness, and a plan that fits you.
After Evaluation, Clients Are
Clear about themselves
More confident
Relieved
Self-accepting
Better communicators
Equipped with next steps
Informed on sensory needs
Ready to work “with” your brain, not against it?
