Driving Directions from Albany, NY

Therapy is provided via telehealth for Albany residents. My office is conveniently located in Midtown Manhattan, just steps from Grand Central Terminal. The directions below reference travel to my New York City office location.

Typical Drive Time from Albany

The drive from Albany to Midtown Manhattan is approximately 2 hours 45 minutes to 3 hours 15 minutes, depending on traffic. Travel time can increase during peak NYC commuting hours.

Recommended Driving Route

The most direct route from Albany to my NYC office is:

  1. Take I-87 South (New York State Thruway) from Albany

  2. Continue south as it becomes the Major Deegan Expressway (I-87) in the Bronx

  3. Follow signs toward Manhattan and merge onto the FDR Drive South

  4. Exit at 42nd Street / Midtown

  5. Drive west on 42nd Street, then turn onto 3rd Avenue

  6. Turn onto East 43rd Street, where the office is located between 2nd and 3rd Avenue

  7. This route brings you directly into Midtown East, minimizing unnecessary turns once you enter Manhattan.

What to Expect When Driving into NYC

Driving into Manhattan is very different from driving in Albany. Traffic can be dense, especially near Midtown and along the FDR Drive. It’s common to experience delays as you approach 42nd Street.

Parking is also more limited in this area. Many people choose to use a nearby parking garage close to Grand Central Terminal for convenience.

Alternative Option: Train from Albany Area

Some clients traveling from the Albany area prefer to take the train into New York City instead of driving. Taking Amtrak or driving to a Metro-North station and continuing into Grand Central can reduce stress and eliminate the need to navigate Manhattan traffic.

Because the office is located just a short walk from Grand Central Terminal, this can be a practical and reliable option.
